Some water you just can’t get to from a boat. Wade trips are how we access the quieter stretches of the Clark Fork and the St. Regis River — smaller, less pressured water where you’re not competing with a parade of drift boats. It’s a more hands-on way to fish, and for a lot of anglers it’s where the best memories get made.

Your guide picks you up at the shop and drives you to the water. From there it’s just you, your guide, and the river. We’ll wade through some of the best trout water in western Montana, with your guide right alongside you the whole time — reading water, helping you position, and putting you on fish. All flies and tackle are taken care of. Lunch is eaten on the stream bank, which ends up being one of those simple things that sticks with people.
Wade trips are for 1–2 anglers, with additional anglers welcome at $100 per person. Full-day trips include lunch and soft drinks. Half-days include snacks and drinks.
Trips run March through November, with winter options depending on conditions.
Both the Clark Fork and the St. Regis hold healthy populations of westslope cutthroat running 14–18 inches, rainbows in the 14–20 inch range, and cutbow hybrids pushing 16–20 inches. Browns show up less frequently but tend to run bigger, occasionally reaching 22 inches. Two great rivers with their own character — we’ll talk through what to expect when we plan your trip.
Our guides bring rods, reels, flies, and all terminal tackle. Here’s what to bring on your end:

Waders and wading boots with good traction. We don’t provide these, so make sure you have a pair that fits well before your trip. In summer, some guests choose to wet wade — the water is cold but manageable if you don’t mind it. Good wading shoes with traction are a must either way.
Layered clothing appropriate for the weather. A rain jacket is always worth throwing in the bag.
Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
Any snacks or beverages beyond what’s included, if you have preferences.
Wade trips are $650 for 1–2 anglers for a full day, and $550 for a half day. Additional anglers are welcome at $100 per person. A 50% deposit is required to hold your date, with the remaining balance due the day of your trip.

Cancellation Policy: We ask that you give us as much notice as possible if your plans change. Cancellations made more than 45 days before your trip date are eligible for a deposit refund. Within 45 days, the deposit is non-refundable. Cancellations within 2 weeks of your trip date are charged the full trip amount. Our guides make their living during a short season, and we take their time seriously. We appreciate your understanding.
Where do we meet? We meet at the Clark Fork Trout shop at 715 Hwy 135 in St. Regis. Your guide will drive you to the water from there.

What rods do you provide? Our guides bring rods, reels, and flies — everything you need to fish is taken care of. If you have your own gear you’d like to fish, you’re welcome to bring it along.
Do you provide flies? Yes. We’ll have what’s working on the water that day. If you have favorites, bring those too.
Can I bring a larger group? Absolutely. Wade trips accommodate 1–2 anglers at the base rate, with additional anglers welcome at $100 per person. We’ve put together wade trips for bigger groups before and they make for a great day. Just reach out early so we can make sure we have the guides to do it right.
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies? Just let us know when you book and we’ll make sure you’re taken care of.
I’m a beginner. Is that going to be a problem? Not at all. Wade trips are actually a great way to learn — your guide will be right alongside you the whole time. We’ll spend as much time on the basics as you need.
