The Clark Fork through Mineral County doesn’t get the boat traffic you’ll find on more famous Montana stretches, and that’s exactly why we love it. Less pressure means better fishing and more room to breathe. We run full and half-day floats out of our fly shop in St. Regis (roughly an hour west of Missoula) and go wherever the fish are that day — the Clark Fork, the Blackfoot, the Bitterroot, or the St. Regis River during its short spring window. We know these rivers well, and we’ll put you on the right one.

There’s something about a full day drifting good water that’s hard to put into words until you’ve done it. We fish out of a drift boat, cover water, and keep moving until we find what we’re looking for. Our guides keep multiple rigs ready so we can adapt on the fly — switching between a dry fly setup and a nymph rig without missing a beat. Whether you’ve been throwing a fly for decades or you’re just getting started, we’ll meet you where you are and make sure you’re having a good time.
Full-day trips include lunch and soft drinks. Half-days include snacks and drinks. We take care of everything so you can just focus on the river.

The Clark Fork through Mineral County holds a healthy population of westslope cutthroat, the native trout of this drainage, typically running 14–18 inches. You’ll also find rainbows in the 14–20 inch range and cutbow hybrids pushing 16–20 inches. Browns show up less frequently but tend to run bigger, occasionally reaching 22 inches. The Blackfoot and Bitterroot carry their own character and their own fish — we’ll let you know what to expect when we talk through the plan for your trip.
We provide rods, reels, flies, and all terminal tackle — everything you need to fish is already in the boat. Here’s what to bring on your end:

Layered clothing appropriate for the weather. Mornings on the water can be cold even in summer, and conditions change. A rain jacket is always a good idea.
Waders are worth having along in spring and fall when the water and air are cold. In summer, leave them at home — it’s too warm and honestly you probably won’t need them. Our guides are pretty good at keeping you dry if you want to be.
Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. A day on the water is a long day in the sun.
Any snacks or beverages beyond what’s included, if you have preferences.
Full-day floats are $650 for 1–2 anglers and include lunch and soft drinks. Half-day floats are $550 and include snacks and drinks. A 50% deposit is required to hold your date, with the remaining balance due the day of your trip.

Cancellation Policy: We ask that you give us as much notice as possible if your plans change. Cancellations made more than 45 days before your trip date are eligible for a deposit refund. Within 45 days, the deposit is non-refundable. Cancellations within 2 weeks of your trip date are charged the full trip amount. Our guides make their living during a short season, and we take their time seriously. We appreciate your understanding.
Where do we meet? We meet at the Clark Fork Trout shop at 715 Hwy 135 in St. Regis. There’s good parking, and it gives us a chance to get acquainted and talk through the plan before we head to the water.

What rods do you provide? Our guides keep several rods rigged and ready in the boat — a dry fly setup, a nymph rig, whatever the day calls for — so we can adapt quickly without missing a beat. Most guests end up fishing guide rods, and you’re welcome to do the same. If you have your own gear you’d like to fish, bring it along.
Do you provide flies? Yes. We’ll have what’s working on the water that day. If you have flies you love to fish, bring those too.
Can I bring a larger group? Our drift boat accommodates 1–2 anglers per guide, but we love a big group trip. We’ve put together floats for bachelor parties, corporate retreats, family reunions, weddings — you name it. The more the merrier, and a day on the Clark Fork makes for a pretty memorable event. Just reach out early so we can line up guides and make sure your dates are locked in.
What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies? Just let us know when you book and we’ll make sure you’re taken care of.
I’m a beginner. Is that going to be a problem? Not at all. We guide anglers of all experience levels and genuinely enjoy teaching. We’ll spend as much time on the basics as you need. The goal is just a good day out there.
